Going back to the office seems to be a hot topic at the moment. I am fortunate enough that my employer does not mandate us to go back to the office, they encourage people to go back to the office for collaborative working and the social aspect of working, supporting a work – life balance.
I have bee trying for a while now to get back into going to the office more than once a week. In the last few weeks, I have not been in the office at all. Kept finding all these excuses not to go in (silly weather, having to wake up earlier that when working from home, false notion of comfort). I find the office distracting sometimes, with a huge sensory overload. Having said that, I sleep like a baby the entire night after working from the office which is really good because I sometimes have issues sleeping through the night.
I worked from the office one day this week. I wish I worked from the office more often these days. I have been trying to get back into a routine of going in at least once or twice but, I would actually prefer going back three days. I know, baby steps… I feel that the boundaries between home and work have been severely blurred because of the pandemic. It’s been difficult to get back into a routine. I am an introvert and like my space and my own company but now, even I feel that it is time to get back to the old routine. Before the pandemic, I used to work from home once a week (Fridays) and it used to be such a treat! Ah, the excitement of going for an after-work drink with colleagues on Thursdays knowing that I was working from home the next day! Crazy times! 🙂
Next week is going to be a big challenge… I’ve decided to work from the office three consecutive days as I’ve got various events, in-person meetings and social gatherings I am planning on attending. I cannot remember the last time I worked from the office three consecutive days! Oh my!
I’ll let you know how it went and if I actually made in all three days! 🙂
